In the Middle Ages Lübeck and Visby were part of the Hanseatic League, an alliance between guilds in different European cities. Nowadays Visby and Lübeck are partner cities. The German reenactment group Hansevolk zu Lübeck is invited every year to display authentic Medieval life. They use recipes and ingredients that were available at that time for their cooking. Modern items are hidden mostly. Well there are of course replicas of authentic spectacles, originally made from bone, there are also wooden replicas.
